General Stock Discussion / Re: Shutterstock vs Adobe Stock

If you have the same portfolio on both sites it might not be too significant if one is going down and the other is going up.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Coronavirus and downloads?
« on: February 06, 2020, 12:22 »

As you mention it, I don't remember ever having a download from China.

Downloads from China are never shown as a location as China has restrictions, I think the geomapping software doesn't work for China.

In the old style ss map, downloads from China would appear in the centre of the map, close to the west coast of Africa. Now they just don't put the downloads on the map and in the list of downloads they just put a hyphen to replace location, I think. I can't remember exactly as I haven't had a download from China in a while.

China does appear on the map and did on the old map.  Downloads from China usually dry up for me in the first quarter every year plus Shutterstock have had a dispute with China recently so downloads will be down regardless.

Yes you are right. I apologize. I just went to my dashboard and noticed a download from Shanghai, China. So now I'm curious where the downloads come from which don't show a location and instead replaces location information with a hyphen.

Shutterstock's dispute with China was solved last year. China now has a different shutterstock search than the rest of us. Goes to show how important China is for Shutterstock.

The chinese don't buy stock images  ;)

According to your prejudice.But infact they do buy stock, so much so that ss tailors their search specifically for buyers in China.

I'm reading a lot about if China's economy starts to fall it will have a knock on effect for the rest of the world. China is the number 2 economy in the world.

Downloads of my images of people wearing medical masks has increased a lot recently.

Dreamstime.com / Re: I got a rejection at Dreamstime??
« on: February 04, 2020, 01:29 »
When a reviewer doesn't like your image for whatever reason they will reject the image and often give any reason. You don't have to take the rejection reasons literally.

I just got a rejection reason on ss for a vector image I made, "A reference image is required for this submission but was not provided."

I did submit the reference image, but the reviewer didn't bother to check it, or he just didn't like the image but put that reason.

Just submit again.

Only way DP made it was paying people 50c an upload,

They paid 20c per image. I couldn't let that one stand uncorrected.  :D

Sorry I thought they started higher and then limited how much as time went by? I didn't jump in before looking for how deep the water was.  :) Not someplace I wanted to be.

Yes my memory was in error:

The promotion program - $0.20 per each accepted image (on 500 images);
Author commissions is 44 to 60%;

What's the commission now?

34 to 42%

Dreamstime.com / Re: keyword of two words
« on: January 17, 2020, 02:45 »
Hello,
concerning keywording, is there a way to add single keyword composed of two words (e.g. "new york")???

For instance I add the keyword "new york" on the dreamstime web page and there the keyword is splitted in two different keywords "new" and "york". How to avoid the undesired splitting?

Thanks in advance

When I was with them there was no way of avoiding this. Seems like nothing has changed.

how much  for 1 credit on glstock.com ?

No credits.  I think a S is 3 an M is 7 and a L is 15.

Maybe in the past. They only have a credit system now.

Ah, sorry, you're right.  I just remember trading my credits for images and just thought they used a cash system otherwise.

Man, all these places are terrible.  There's no easy way to just buy one image.  On the micros at least.

On the front page of revolucy.com it says "You can even download just 1 image. We don't force you to buy more than you need."

GLStock might finally be making a sale!

Except those aren't the prices.

Alamy's cheapest are $20 and these licenses are either for personal use or Presentations and newsletters.

The question is about a single image, so your link is irrelevant. Cheapest single image on Alamy is $20, with limited usage.

Years ago before he went private I usually noticed Yuri always maximized his keywords to 50 in still images. I tried to do the same for years. But, now-a-days I have tried to limit the number of keywords I use to 25 to make them more exact.
Besides keywords, I do make sure I use as much of the title and description characters as possible. I've found up to 64 characters when they like a title and up to 200 characters for description seems to work best for the sites I submit to, although some have more or less space. I usually split up the description into 2 sentences.
When I looked up an isolated tomato on Yuri's new site the number of keywords for one isolated tomato was 18. So, maybe they have found that less is better?

Which sites still read title? Because Adobe reads that as the description I've started to remove that data. Maybe I shouldn't do that?

Right descriptions can be just as important for searches, especially the part that search engines pick up.

What each site I contribute to seems to publish of my IPTC file info of Title, Descriptions and Keywords.
123RF = Descriptions and some Keywords
Adobe Stock = Title
Alamy = Description
BigStockPhoto = Description
CanStockPhoto = Title Description, Keywords
ClipDealer = Title, (Media Info) Description, Keywords
Crestock = Title, Description, Keywords
Cutcaster = Title, Description, Keywords
DepositPhotos = Title, Description, Keywords
Dreamstime = Title, Description, Keywords
GraphicLeftovers = Title
IStockPhotos = Title, Description, Keywords
MostPhotos = Title, Description
Panthermedia = Title, Description
Pond5 = Title, Description
Shutterstock = Description and related keywords
YAYImages = Title, Description, Keywords

What software do you use to enter your iptc info?

Site Related / Re: Site Speed
« on: January 06, 2020, 03:13 »
I just got something from my browser that the site was unsecure or something about the time on the certificate was wrong or something.  I had to force it to go through.

The SSL certificate expired today. Just needs renewing.

Off Topic / Re: How to Make My Mac Faster?

Photoshop uses more CPU power than GPU.

Buy a PC. It's gonna be cheaper.

I bought a PC (it is still in the box), but this did not make my Mac faster

Hahaha..  ;D

first sales was $0.35 cents   :-\
Is that considered good or bad these days ?

Depends, do you live in New York City or rural Jakarta?  :)

In order to not perpetuate the misnomer, Jakarta is almost the same size as New York and it has a larger population. I'm not trying to start an argument, although inevitably I probably will, this is msg after all. Just saying there are so many more places way more rural and cheaper to live than the city of Jakarta.  :)

@Chichikov To find an image to edit it or delete it, search in your portfolio (using a relevant keyword), get the Id number, then enter the Id number in "Search by content Id", which is in your dashboard. Then delete the image or edit as you wish.

Asfaik most sites don't have a search for images which aren't online yet, but the above method is pretty simple to find and edit individual images in your AS portfolio.

Hope this helps.

lol
It helps, yes thank you, but to tell that it is "pretty simple" is an euphemism

Sure, you have to remember the other sites have been here years longer than AS and they improved over quite a long time. AS will make it more proficient in time. Glad I wasn't missing the point and you can now do what you intend to do.

So when I want to create a new collection, I have to go to the portfolio page, search by keyword, write down the ID number, go to my files and search the id number and add it to a collection. Rinse and repeat the 60+ times to add all the files.

Sounds so much better than search files by keyword, ticking all the files returned by the search and add to collection.

This isn't a problem about files not online, it's a problem when dealing with a large batch alteration... whether that's creating a new featured collection, edit keywords or delete.

I have no idea about collections, @Chichikov said he could not find and edit/delete individual images because he can't find them, when in fact it is possible to find images with keywords. No need to write down the Id. use copy/paste.

I'm not responsible for the way AS works but it's been said several times in this forum that there is no method to search ones own portfolio. And I'm just saying there is a way.

You're a star, I'd clicked every link and not seen this page!

:D

It's incredible how so many people here can't figure out how to search in their own portfolio. Seriously it's not rocket science.

Go to your account page at this link https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/en/account

Then click on "see my public profile", then type banana in search and only your bananas will show up. Hope we are  all happy monkeys now.

I think you missed the point, people want to actually do something with the results not just browse their past triumphs.

You have made an additional point.

I was answering the following, "I do miss not being able to search my portfolio...by keyword rather than id number."

and "When I say "searching" I mean writing in a field a word or a short phrase that will return all the corresponding images, and only those images."

A portfolio search is possible but only in the frontend, as Uncle Pete says, bookmark your link.

I take that as confirmation that you did indeed miss the point.

You CAN search only your images using keywords.
