General Stock Discussion / Re: PayPal will Take $2500 for Misinformation« on: October 09, 2022, 21:43 »
Not laughable. Ive heard many others talk about this. I am a humanist (my definition of humanism looking to science, not revelation from a supernatural source, to understand the world) so not familiar with Bible verses, but it does seem prescient. I think I might have mentioned transhumanism in that post months ago (and got laughed at). Go read about Elon Musks theories on it and his experiments happening now with Neuralink. 3
General Stock Discussion / Re: PayPal will Take $2500 for Misinformation« on: October 09, 2022, 17:37 »Well, there was enough backlash from this that they stopped the policy change. Yes, I think they got backlash in the form of tons of people closing their accounts. They change their tune when it hits them in their pockets. 4

General Stock Discussion / Re: PayPal will Take $2500 for Misinformation« on: October 09, 2022, 17:15 »Haven't been aware about that particular ToS change but nothing surprises me anymore. We seem to be living in some weird mix of Brave New World and 1984. I can safely say we're outpacing Black Mirror at this point. Most people don't seem to notice which is another proof that the boiling frog syndrome is real I noticed months ago, said so here, and got laughed at, called names, told to get psychiatric help by someone, and the worst horror, accused of being a Trump/QAnon supporter. Which is a total joke. Some people dont want to hear the truth or believe that our world is on the way to dystopia. Thats ok. Sometimes I wish I didnt know what I know, either. And I certainly hope those who know more than I are wrong. I will be happy to be wrong. edit: see spacestockfootages comment. Thats just a sample. If I say something, I get laughed at. If you say the exact same thing, you get a discussion. Funny thing is, its all there if you look in the right places, which is NOT mainstream media. But theyd rather laugh and make fun, than actually educate themselves. Heres a good example. Dr. Peter McCullough was just suspended from twitter for giving misinformation about rona. Top cardiologist in TX, tons of published papers, etc. Been pushing early treatments since early days of rona, trying to save people. But that Goes against the narrative. Boom. Deplatformed. I was booted out of twitter for talking about quackzine shet ting. Even tho its right there in the pfizzzzer docs they tried to hide for 75 years, until they were taken to court and ordered to release them. No wonder they wanted all that info hidden. can give many more names. But I doubt anyone here is interested. No prob. 6
General Stock Discussion / Re: about AI training thru machine learning« on: October 01, 2022, 00:16 »
Read the article. There ARE concerns about copyrights. No one is conflating anything. There are still issues to iron out. The AI is STILL using parts of other peopkes images without permission. Yes, that might be five pixels, or it could be 1/4 of the image not altered.
And this about Dall-E: This public debut comes without answers to some key questions. It's not clear if AI-generated art is fair use or stolen, for instance Getty Images and similar services have banned the material out of concern it might violate copyright. While this expansion will be welcome, it might test some legal limits. https://www.engadget.com/dall-e-ai-image-generator-beta-no-waitlist-173746483.html 7
General Stock Discussion / Re: Artificial Intelligence killing the whole industry« on: September 30, 2022, 22:43 »again, unsupported assumptions tending towards conspiracy theories- that's not how machine learning operates, That is how I understand it, too. lI read a little about DALL-E and midjourney today. I thought it was software that you buy, but no its a subscription-based site. It sounds like it would be fun to play around with. I just dont think they have any copyright issues ironed out yet. Because it is learning and storing images found on the internet using keywords. Tomorrow I will go look at some actual uploaded images (on adobe?) to see the quality. As a person involved in creative work my whole career, this is very intriguing. As mentioned in one of the posts above, I see it as a tool to generate creative ideas, more than actually creating images to submit to microstock. At this point anyway. Im sure the process will be refined and image quality will improve in the future. Exciting stuff, wish I werent at the tail end of my career. Heres the midjourney article I read, which talks about the copyright conundrum. https://expertphotography.com/midjourney/ And this about Dall-E: This public debut comes without answers to some key questions. It's not clear if AI-generated art is fair use or stolen, for instance Getty Images and similar services have banned the material out of concern it might violate copyright. While this expansion will be welcome, it might test some legal limits. https://www.engadget.com/dall-e-ai-image-generator-beta-no-waitlist-173746483.html Interesting that Elon Musk is involved in OpenAI and Dall-E ... I had seen him talk about AI in tweets, but didnt connect the dots. 8
General Stock Discussion / Re: Artificial Intelligence killing the whole industry« on: September 30, 2022, 06:48 »Question about the AI software itself. Can you specify a folder of artwork to draw from, or does it always just scrape the internet? Ill go have a look at this one, thanks. 9
General Stock Discussion / Re: Artificial Intelligence killing the whole industry« on: September 30, 2022, 06:46 »
Thank you for all the answers. I have a better idea of how it works. So the software you buy already has learned and is based on images from the internet programmed in.
Sounds promising, something fun to play with, and you might get a good image out of it. The watermark copyright issues are concerning, and some of the images posted here so far arent good. The desk with coffee cup, apple, etc. are bad. Ill go have a look to see other examples. 10

Question about the AI software itself. Can you specify a folder of artwork to draw from, or does it always just scrape the internet?
Could I just tell it to draw fom my folder of my images, to avoid copyright problems? Might be a way to create some new images to sell but not having to shoot any more. I know about Dall-E and midjourney, what are some other brands? Anyone recommend one that theyve used? 11
Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock has locked my account« on: September 15, 2022, 22:56 »So. now it's official. My account remains closed. Yes, theres always a reason accounts get closed. Glad you got it sorted out. 12
Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock has locked my account« on: August 22, 2022, 10:29 »A strange one. Post the question exactly as they asked it. We might be able to give you some clues as to what is going on. 13
Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock has locked my account« on: August 22, 2022, 10:27 »
Findura said: I had not uploaded any media to AS for several months.
I dont think that would be the reason. I havent uploaded for a couple of years, but I still have an account there, and I still sell images. Tell us what Adobe said and we might be able to help. There is always a reason why accounts get closed. People complain it got closed for no reason, but upon further digging, it comes out that they violated something in the Terms. Maybe even not on purpose. Sometimes there is a lot of suspicious activity on the account in the form of a lot of bogus credit cards being used. Sometimes people buy their own images. And so on. 14
Adobe Stock / Re: AS rejections« on: August 19, 2022, 15:22 »Hi everyone, On pg 2 of this thread, there are screenshots of how to change the artboard size. 15
Adobe Stock / Re: AS rejections« on: August 19, 2022, 15:12 »Be glad that AS only rejects your media. Theres always a reason. Have you asked Mat to look into it? 16
Adobe Stock / Re: Horizontal and vertical image« on: August 16, 2022, 20:35 »I don't understand why Adobe stock don't accept vertical and horizontal image same view? If customer crop vertical image from horizontal image customer get low resolution image! It's very important especially landscape images. I have horizontal and vertical shots of the same subject matter in my portfolio, but they were setup specifically for the format. Not just, say, shot landscape, then cropped for vertical (like Mat said). 17

Is stock photography dead?
For most, yes. For those with good images and good placement in the search, no. Some are still making money. 19
Off Topic / Re: The Biden recession is coming. Brace yourselves.« on: July 21, 2022, 12:16 »LOL. Like man has any power over changing the climate. Thank you for the scolding, mother. I actually do read stuff from world climate scientists. Did you even watch the video, outlining how climate has changed over the centuries? Probably not. I want to hear YOUR plan for how climate can be changed. There is lots we can do to clean up earth, but it still wont change the climate. I will continue to post my opinions here, just like everyone else. You think Im an idiot? Bummer. Not going anywhere. Maybe you should not be one of the mean girls. Most of the time, I agree with what you say. I am just like you. I read. I form an opinion. I do not think I know more than any climate scientist. I posted my OPINION. You do know the difference between expert facts and my opinion, right? Are YOU a climate expert? What makes your OPINION any more valid than mine? You guys crack me up. 20

123RF / Re: Ridiculous Refunds« on: July 13, 2022, 13:53 »Same "mistake" my energy company likes to make. Add erroneous fees to everyone's bills, apologise and remove for the few that actually spot them, pocket the rest. Yes, I suspect companies do this quite frequently. My car insurance bill is most always the same amount, unless I pass a milestone where it actually goes down. This month, its about 50 cents different, more than usual. Insurance company or microstock, all they have to do is short everyone cents, multiplied by how many insured or photographers, and they make themselves a fast little chunk of change. And they figure no ones gonna gripe about a few cents here and there. 😡 Ive inquired about it before (insurance), and was told its just adjustments. Right. 22
Photoshop Discussion / Re: PS Update a big mistake« on: May 29, 2022, 08:08 »
I dont do much Photoshop work these days (retired), but Im still using CS5. It works, and I did not want to go to the subscription model.
You used to be able to run two versions on a Mac (if I remember correctly), not sure if thats true any more. 23

Great image! Congrats. Ive had this happen in the past. Sometimes buying multiple same images is cheaper than buying a multi-seat license. At least thats what I thought was happening.
