I have the featured one working on Home Page CTA.  I put the widget into "Home page below content" container

Steve

weird.. it is working now..

I haven't changed the container, it was already there.. I just switched back to Home Page CTA and it worked..

I have got almost 100 comments in the last 2 days and they are comiing still more.
Those are on different pages, but mostly photo and have nothing to do with my site.

For exemple the last one says
"Submitted on 2013/04/13 at 11:05 am
Very great post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wanted to say that I
have truly enjoyed browsing your blog posts.
In any case Ill be subscribing on your feed and Im hoping you write once more very
 soon!
"

They altogether seems to be related to the same blog and for a reason end to my site www.stockabily.com

Are some of you experiencing the same? What to do to avoid this?
thnks for any insight...

tried it again, but I can confirm that comments won't get turned off even though I DISABLED the following section:

- Allow people to post comments on new articles

in discussion settings..

Jean, your front page has a comment box which will probably draw a lot of comments in.  Turn off/disable  comments in all your "PAGES" as well as everything else you can find.   In  Settings, Discussion  I select that everthing must be modified before it appears, if an email address is being used regularly I  stick in in the bottom box  of that page

discovered something very interesting..

when I "process to drafts" first and then edit and publish the images manually, the comments obey the global settings and come out as "off"

but;

when I "process to publish", the comments box can not be turned off, no matter what I do..

I was just about to comment that there are no comment boxes on my site on the latest release - but i always go through the Publish to drafts step.

yeap I knew there was something like that since not many people complained about it.. I turned the box "off" by choosing -user must be logged in to comment

so when user is NOT logged in, they see: "Leave a comment" link
and when logged in, they see the "comment box"

but definitely can not be turned off completely, if you published the images right away..

I always go though publish to drafts - none of my images have descriptions so have to add them and do seo as well - somewhat time consuming but means I look at each image and many of my earlier ones I have deleted and others have re-processed as I know I can do better now  than I could a few years ago - or even last year with what I have learned over the winter

Thank you Tinny, I have now changed things in the setting + the front page; I can still see the comment option there ... I must be doing something wrong still....

I was just checking Google webmaster tools - saw I had a URL error on my site. This URL could not be found:

http://www.backyardstockphotos.com/search-images/landmark/simplexmlelement.--construct

Any idea which part of the site should be looking for that one? I do have 25 images with the keyword "landmark", and the search function on the site finds them OK.

I have the same issue, can't turn off the comments. Maybe a good idea for the theme to disable to comments on the - image page - irrespective of settings on the WP-dashboard, the theme should look as much like a Stock site as possible.

I've noticed on my other wp site that there are a lot of spammers who leave irrelevant comments touting their sites

No, it's just standard spambot droppings. The spam is only the URL in the website field , so things like Akismet don't always pick it up.

When the image installs and page is generated, comments are hardwired as on. However you can turn them off. I'll make a way to alter with next version, monday or tuesday.

For anyone who is concerned - comments are good for SEO in that it adds to the page. Especially if you get some picture that for some strange reason goes viral---your gonna want that cowbell. ...people able to comment.

But the comments are ugly right now. You want them styled? Or you just don't like comments? Let me know.

Over-all though I'll give more control over that.

To my issue in #146 above:
It was something with dns configuration on my new server. It had problem with resolving some domains hosted on bluehost, and curl_exec returned nothing with error ""Couldn't resolve host".
They changed dns server and now it is ok., but Symbio code needs some kind of reaction for such issues :)

For me, I just don't like the comments because there are always more spam comments than useful ones.

One issue discovered today: image processing should be case insensitive, or convert "JPG" to "jpg" in filenames at first :)
Now "JPG" file processing ends with some errors. I had to change extension to "jpg" in ftp folder.

Leo in this case it would be nice to have the comments filtered from spams if this is possible.....

this is a bug I noticed and reported before, but it is still there so it's worth reminding..

after the purchase, when customer is redirected back to the site, (medium size image) the item still appears in the cart instead of the download area below..

this really might be confusing to some customers.. they may think the payment has not gone through, thus the image is still in the cart..

it is not good having to refresh the page to see the image in the download area below..
