It has been mentioned before and I will mention it FT state the number of "online images". They don't claim to have 3 million images for sale
If a submitted image is accepted, rejected, made a free image or deleted by user a thumbnail is kept so is "online"
Online to me means online and avaliable. It is not online if they are the only ones who can see it (ie rejected and delted files). The free image theory also doesn't cut it given the large jump this week (there cant be that many giving images away free). Are they simply multiplying by 6 (or however many different language versions they have?)

Based on the marketing of the U3 USB Drives, they should solve all the problems.
Basically if you can use a USB Drive at the cafe, then the software on it will run an automatic virus checker (etc) and all your data on the drive is encrypted. It also removes all info on the computer when you leave (ie. cookies and temp files).
Any techies that can comment on this?
NOte: I have one but I have had issues with the encrypter. If It does what it says, it should be great but I dont think it is quite as good as it should be to make it a commercial success.

I cant figure out how their search works. I did a search and my photos were topped by ones with loss sales and lower ratings (sojme ever with 0 and 0).
Surely it doesn't go on views??

Check with your bank how much they will charge to cash the cheque. I have heard in some countries, the charges make it uneconomical.
Any reason why you dont want to use paypal of moneybookers?

Perfectly senseless.
It's not senseless if you understand that you're talking about a bunch of different things. Trademark, copyright, trade dress, etc. You're grouping them all together in one big mess.
What is the difference between an ipod, laptop or camera and a teddy bear? I would have thought the teddy bear was the least harmful yet that is the one the choose to reject - mmmm - senseless.

Not micro stock. There is no commision but there is a Credit card fee of 5% on each transaction (minimum of $4!!!)

I dont keep that statistic but I do keep a similar one which shows a similar thing, as by chance, I was just drafting a blog few minutes ago that had this info in it (the post will be going up over the weekend). So here is the average price per DL from the various sites. Obviously the higher the amount, the larger the size (ie. I have dropped my camera twice onto concrete from a reasonable height. The most recent time it was attached to a brand new 18-200 Nikon VR lens. Both times it landed lens down and the UV filter whilst cracking itself, protected the lens. how do you know the lens would have broken if the UV filter was not there? It appears that th UV filter is a lot more flimsy that the lens. Having said that, I intend to replace the UV filter I broke in my next purchase. Traveling to any dusty place, I would still prefer to have a "protection" filter on.

When chosing to buy, it directs us to the Fotolia site with the partner reference added to the link: "..../partner/3597"
I wonder if it's an independent enterprise, or if Fotolia has a direct agreement with them. Since there is a referal link, I think it is just once guy who has created the code and just puts a different template on the multiple sites he has (I think the referal numbers you mention are the same as the two sites at the top of the post). Very simple (i assume if you know what you are doing) and he should get a lot of referals out of it. Fotolia are probably doing short term thinking and think it is good for them as it is increased exposure. Long term though, i think they will lose control of their brand. Buyers may get confussed on who they are buying from or get bad service etc.

Does Flickr have a payment option yet? I know Zooomr is still alpha testing there version. or smartmug? Alternatively Featurepics may accept them as editorial and have them up there for a while?

They should do - amazon is still independant of the manufactures so unless they get a good discount to sell a camera, it is unlikely there would be any need to be biased.

I removed all my UV filters from my lenses when I realized just how badly it affected flaring and image quality (and I had the best UVs possible).
I removed my UV filter from my main lens when it smashed (following a small drop).  Most of the time my photos are taken when i travel so I prefer to have a "cheap" peice of glass in front to make cleaning less of a stress. If I was in a controled environment, there is no way I would use a filter.

I wouldn't think a slim filter is needed for any crop camera except the ultra wides.
I use a normal filter on my 17-85 and that uses a smaller diameter (67 vs 77 for the 17-40)

I use 7 day moving averages together with 5th degree polynomials to keep track of things
Do you track daily figures or weekly figures. I use to track all sales but dropped down to monthly as it is easier (I can go away for weeks/months and still get the data) and it is suitable for my purposes. As it is not my job, any more my be over analysis.

it is about 57c at IS but it has been going up to about 70c. Dreamstime is up to about 90c, fotolia all over the place (probably 50 - 60c), SS 25c, 123rd about 40c - 50c, and StockXpert about $1

Better this month the server upgrade last month really screwed things up. A steady but slow earner though I think i got in a the right time filling holes in their portfolio.
FTP, No categories, high acceptance rate, $50 payout
If you have your images keyworded and can spare the bandwidth uploading why not
Plus they are owned by inmagine - one of the big marco sites. At some point they might put in some marketing money and I plan to be their when they do.

Ranking is based on money earned, not DL, so EL pay a huge part as do 3 credit sales.

Those who though 5c (as I did) were partially right. It was a 20% increase to 30c but only if you have total sales of over $500.

There was a 5c payrise as most expected but it only applies to those with over $500 in sales. Very sneaky but I guess rewarding the good supplies is a good think. Kind of like the different cannisters/badges at istock/fotolia. Read about it here: http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/abt18615.html
