You can split hairs all you want. This was posted by the same racist: (there, I put it in quotes so all you hair-splitters would be happy): Add Pakistan and India to the restricted list for new users before they can collect earnings.

I don't have a paypal account and it's not possible to make one from my country, so I was wondering if I could use my friend's paypal who lives in Europe to withdraw money from microstock sites. I'm just about to get started and I'm confused as what to do about the account setting for money. Please, help me out here!

Youd be better off using one of the other methods for payment. Even though your intent is benign, when you start mixing and matching accounts, you are asking for trouble. It might be construed as some sort of fraud. Maybe if you contact an agency and explain what you are doing, they might be ok with it.

Adobe Stock / Re: Introducing the free collection from Adobe Stock
« on: November 06, 2020, 08:18 »
During my long career as a human being I have realized that, most of the time, those who look for the worst in everyone and everything are generally those who behave exactly like those they criticize

PRIME EXAMPLE = Donald J. Trump

Why do you bring most discussions to politics?
It's really a habit with you

Clearly you had someone in mind when you made YOUR comment. Why do you always jump on the denigrating others bandwagon? Its really a habit with you and a couple of others here. Since you quoted Uncle Pete and me when you said it, theres a 50% chance you were talking about me.  ::)

Here in the US weve had four years of a loud-mouthed, disgusting bully who calls himself president. This election, right now, is foremost on our minds. Right now Biden is winning the electoral college, and spoiled little baby bully that he is, Trumps holding up the counts because hes a sore loser. I suspect thats why Martha is bringing the conversation around to politics.

Restrict new users from Ukraine.

Racist. 🙄

Only in Cathy's World is a country a race. Where did you go to grade school? Add Pakistan and India to the restricted list for new users before they can collect earnings.

Nope. Looks like at least 3 other peoples world consider your remark racist. 😉😃 But if you think racist is the wrong word, (its not, it can be used where there is ethnic discrimination, too), there are many more I could call you that would apply equally as well.

And also, the pay was calculated to be more than the amount the image would have received during a normal year. In theory, no contributor lostWhile Adobe paid for them and will get no income directly for those free downloads.

They will get income if people download the free images, use them to create new images, then sell them on Adobe. 😂

157
LOL yeah, we all know the difference. Those 106 pages arent background blur or anything useful blur.

158
Great achievement all the same. If I submitted those they would be rejected for being out of focus. Before I suspended my SS account I came to the conclusion that SS had gone to war with their contributors and yet this slips through.

That was my point. When I was submitting, even when I would submit food shots with shallow DOFs they would get rejected for out of focus.

SS has to either be a) paying these people to create huge bogus portfolios to beef up their site totals and BS their shareholders, or b) just giving special treatment to some people, not really caring what they submit. Either way, its garbage.

159
How do those even get approved? Apparently they dont have out of focus rejections anymore. What a bunch of garbage. Im nippon freelancer journalist who loved to travelling around the world. in blurryness i found peace and the truth perspective.thanks for supports. Peace and truth ... and money off other peoples back! ... in blurriness? LOL

106 pages of that garbage.

160
I wonder how many people will take these free images the reupload them to this and other sites as their own to try to sell them.
This is going on at "another major agency" quite a bit at the moment.

What controls/checks are there the images and licences arent being misued?

Since none of the agencies seem to have any controls/checks, and none seem to do anything about it even when the stolen images are pointed out, maybe we all should just take a if you cant beat em, join em attitude and start beefing up our ports with stolen images. The agencies dont seem to care....a sale is a sale is a sale...no matter where it comes from.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock deleted my account!
« on: October 21, 2020, 12:38 »
Im sure they have a reason for deleting it. Maybe not a legitimate reason, but in their minds it is. You should know by now what scumbags they are, so Im not really surprised to hear it. Did you do anything to your account during the boycott? Deactivate your account, then reactivate? Frankly, I think all of the microstock sites are looking for reasons to dump a lot of contributors. Culling the herd.

Accounts dont usually get blocked for no good reason. It usually ends up being user error. Glad you got it worked out.

What happened to free? Seems to be all the rage now.

So I now see Adobes press releases everywhere, with people crowing about how Adobe is democratizing art by giving away images and footage for free, effectively helping to put tens of thousands of us out of business.

I dont see any press releases about Adobe democratizing anything by giving away their software for free, though. Wouldnt that be helpful, if Adobe fought their competitors who make their software available for free by also offering Adobe software for free? I know creatives were really angry that Adobe switched to a yearly subscription, which costs people a lot more.

Weird that Adobe thinks people should pay more for their software and nothing for other peoples work.

I quit buying when they switched to subscription.

Adobe manufactures tools for an artist. That does not mean that Adobe is an artist or even understands them.

They have been providing software for artists since the early 80s. Im pretty sure they understand.

"The work of underepresented groups is so valuable we are going to give it away".

They are using pretzel logic. 😀

167
Yep, they all had a plan in place. More $$ for them, less for us.

The only good news in the last couple of days is that us retirees are getting a 1.3% 😯 raise in December from SS. Not much, but at least they arent taking anything away (yet). Not enough to make up for the lost microstock revenue this year, though.

168

This looks like a screenshot taken pre-2010. It seems that we have come full circle.
I agree with the people who think this is just a part of a bigger plan which main focus is Adobe CC. We're an afterthought at this point, a means to an end.

Exactly my thought, you beat me to it. Microstock started out as amateurs and semi-amateurs providing images to fill the gap, as has been mentioned. People and small companies who couldnt afford hundreds of dollars for one image used them. The images were not big budgeted, but the royalties werent big either. And the images Jo Ann posts look very much like the images that most of us submitted back in 2004, when we were starting out. Yes, full circle.

They work ok for me. safari ipad also logged into AS

I just feel sad that within six months we have all gone from 'which site do you like the most' to 'which site do you dislike the least'.

In an ideal world, we would all pull our ports and go exclusive with Dreamstime, as they seem to be the only site that hasn't actively scr***d us over in some way or another.
yea, but we went from "iStock is best" (some years ago now!) to "SS is best!" to "Adobe is best!" and we don't know what DT, who were hasbeens for a long time and still show low earnings ratings on the poll (take with a pinch of salt) has in future plans.

What Adobe haven't said is what concrete info they have onhow many free users actually convert to paying users. My gut tells me 'not many'.

DT has done their fair share of screwing contributors over the years, too. They all work the same way.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Improper use of photo by buyer
« on: October 14, 2020, 17:46 »
Have you ever had an editorial photo sell that was used for nefarious purposes/was likely to be used for such by their search or to imply something wrong that was not in any way implied by the photograph or in your keywords?

I know we have no control over how our images are used but is there ever a way to deal with this?  If a news source uses a photo to push some false news, is it kosher to write to that news source with the facts?

If the photo is used in a way that goes against the terms of the license, you can complain. For instance, if the license terms says that photos cannot be used for porn and you find it is, you can complain. If the use isnt spelled out in the terms as being disallowed, you dont have much say in how the photo gets used.

With hindsight it's easy to say she should have retired but there very well could have been another Democrat in after Obama.

Actually, history doesn't support that argument. Neither one of America's main political parties tends to hold the presidency for more than two terms in a row.

There are exceptions, of course (Reagan's 2 terms + GHW Bush's 1 term), but generally you'll find a long-established pattern of two terms/eight years of one party followed by two terms/eight years of the other.

I have a strong hunch that Justice Ginsburg knew that.

Yet HRC won by almost 3 million votes. The country wanted another Democratic POTUS. Hanging chads, the supreme court and the electoral college have handed the presidency to losers. The Democratic party needs to grow a freaking backbone and fight like h*ll against the gross unfairness that leads to these outcomes. At this point only 29% of registered voters are Republican. Dont blame Ginsburg for the nefarious machinations of the Republican party. Point the blame for this farce of a presidency and a stacked supreme court where it belongs.

Dead right you are!..problem is the Democratic party and its the same with Labour in England. They are lost for leaders! Just look at them now with a "demented" Biden who is just a compromise to a real leader and its the same with this weird guy  Keir Starmer in England. Losers.

Why are you calling him demented? You sound like Trump, calling everyone names. Sleepy Joe 😡 He has overcome a lifelong stutter, so he speaks carefully. That doesnt make him demented. Hes a helluva lot more presidential than Trump.

General Stock Discussion / Re: is this site down

Is This Site Down Right Now:  https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/

You can check for yourself without asking the forum, and get an immediate reply. Instead of hours later, when the site is back up again. Any site, anywhere.

For example here's Adobe, and it says last down a week ago.

https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/contributor.stock.adobe.com.html

Whenever someone reports it, I go check. I have never found it to be down. There must be an issue with a browser, an update or something. Not sure whose end its on. Last week when it was reported, one person said it was on their end, and they fixed it. Mat said they hadnt had any reports. For those having issues, Maybe look through that thread and see if there are any clues.
